Chocolate Pear Pudding

2 x 415 cans halved pears
25g cocoa powder
150g softened butter, plus extra for greasing
1/4 teaspoon bicarb soda
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
125g plain flour
125g caster sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs

  1. Pre-heat oven to 220 degrees and grease a 22cm oven proof dish with butter
  2. Drain pears and arrange them on the base of the dish cut side down
  3. Put all remaining ingredients in a food processor and blitz until you have a batter with a soft dropping consistency
  4. Spread the batter over the pears and bake for 30 mins
  5. Let stand out of the oven for 5-10 mins and then cut into slabs
  6. Serve with hot chocolate sauce, ice-cream or cream
